Alex Stahnke has added his name to an impressive list of previous winners of this event, which includes GM David Smerdon, WIM Arianne Caoili, WIM Alexandra Jule, Max Leskiewicz and Charles Pizzato. In the 16th running of this tournament, Alex was in big trouble in early games against Max Brynes and Alan Lam, but managed to weather the storm and followed up with impressive victories against the other top players including the current Queensland Champion and Queensland Junior Champion Yi Liu. The cold, windy conditions made it difficult for the players, and provided a stark contrast to the normal balmy weather for this event. There were 59 players. Prize winners:
