The 2005 Ruth Coxhill Memorial FIDE Rated event has been won by Matthew Sonter with a score of 7/9. Second equal were David Lovejoy and Peter Cafolla on 6.
 
Matthew was struggling early in the event, especially after a loss to Peter Radovan who launched a sacrificial attack which looked rather speculative, but which was subsequently found to be sound. However, Matt moved into top gear in the second half of the event with a string of convincing wins. 
 
There were several upset results throughout the tournament, and the final round was no different, with Oleg Korenevski defeating Peter Cafolla, Peter Radovan defeating Hamish Selnes and David Richards drawing with David Lovejoy.
