Nell Van De Graaf Classic

Whilst there was a somewhat disappointing turnout of 55 players for this event, the standard was high. In particular, there was not the usual 'tail' of beginner juniors. The result was a very interesting and competitive tournament, full of upsets.

Five months ago Moulthun Ly was defeated 7.5-0.5 by IM Stephen Solomon in an eight game match. Today he convincingly defeated Queensland's number one player, to make it 3.5/4 since the lesson he received in April. Moulthun also defeated Damian Norris (4th), Craig Duxbury (3rd) and Aaron Guthrie (up from South Australia) to finish with a picket fence 7/7.
