Tournament Format for Premier Divisions

These premier events will be played as teams-roster tournaments, i.e. each team plays the other seven teams once.

Board Order
The four players in each team play on Board 1, Board 2, Board 3 and Board 4 so that each round the Board 1 player plays the Board 1 player on the opposing team, and so on for each board. Board order cannot be changed between rounds.

It is essential that the board order for each team is in order of playing strength - strongest player on Board 1 down to fourth-strongest on Board 4. Board order is determined by each player's current Queensland Junior Rating (see the current May 2009 list at http://www.gardinerchess.com/ratings/2009/qjmay09.txt). In cases where ratings do not reflect the true playing strengths of players, their board order may be adjusted to suit, provided that the rating difference between the players switched is not more than 100 and the arbiter is advised of such changes.

Time Controls
Chess clocks will be used, set at 15 minutes for each player.

Reporting of Game Results
Players will be required to report the result of each game by completing the results card (example attached) supplied for each round, to be handed to the arbiter as soon as all four games have finished.

Entering your Teams
Normal entry procedure applies, using the internet portal at www.gardinerchess.com/schoolsentryportal, ensuring that 'Premier' is included in the name of the team.

Tournament Details and Conditions
Except as outlined above, the details and conditions applying to Open Divisions also apply to the Premiers.

Open Divisions

Of course you are also free (and encouraged) to enter teams in your zonal Open Divisions. There is no limit on the number of open teams.
