Gold Coast Primary Schools Round Two

 Over 900 students from 46 schools are participating over the three days.

Tuesday 30 May - North region

Wednesday 31 May - Central region and Championship grade

Thursday 1 June - South region

South region

 

Somerset College (Engwirda) came first in the North Region A grade, with Hillcrest in second and Somerset (Gray) third. Individually, Gene Nakauchi scored 8/8, to win from Kenji Nakauchi and Jeffrey Cheung, both on 7.
 
Somerset (Toda) won B grade from St Augustine's and Hillcrest. Individually Kaito Yoshida came first on 7/8, from Jesse Lepre and Ryan Firehock.
 
Varsity College (Cushing) won C grade from Varsity (Irwin) and Elanora. Individually Emily Cushing won on 7/8, from Shannon Irwin and Scott Hirst on 6.5.

Central and Championship Grades

 
Somerset College came first and second in the championship grade of round two of GC Primary Chess, with All Saints in 3rd place.

Board prize winners were: 1. Liam McGarity, 2. Shaun Mah, 3. Alex Arase, 4. Robbie Medland

 
In A grade Benowa came first, from Robina and Trinity, and individually Alex Stahnke came first on 8/8, from Masaya Enomoto on 7 and Darren Ooi on 6.5.
 
In B grade Benowa again came first from Robina teams in second and third. Individually Matthew Dent, Jon Lu and Darren Brake came first, second and third, all on 7/8.
 
In C grade Trinity came first from Worongary and Emmanuel, whilst individually Dylan Hall, Kimberly Reid and Jake Linden came first, second and third on 7/7.
 

 


 
TSS proved to have great strength in depth by capturing 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the North Region A grade. Rhys Davies won the individual event with 7/7. In B grade Arundel came first from Labrador and Ashmore, with Joel Livingstone finishing first individually on 6.5/7. In C grade Labrador came first from Bellevue Park and Coomera Anglican College, with Rhys Smith winning the individual event on 6.5/7.
