Grandmaster Simul at the Chess Centre

Grandmaster Ian Rogers

GM Ian Rogers played 28 players in his simultaneous exhibition at the chess centre last night (Wednesday 25 June). At one stage he looked like he was in trouble in several games, but in the end his only defeat was at the hands of Ed Hibbert (reputedly with some assistance from a very close friend who shall remain anonymous for fear of losing her WIM title). Jonas Muller made a convincing draw. Ian showed that he is still very fit as the simul lasted nearly four hours. Despite his recent retirement, he also showed that he had lost little of his playing strength. This was an impressive display by the living legend.
