IM Stephen Solomon
has won the Gold Coast Open for the fourth time. He won the
inaugural event in 1993. He was undefeated, drawing with Ben
Lazarus and Moulthun Ly. Moulthun also was
undefeated, a fine result considering he hasn't been playing
chess this year due to year 12 studies. Third equal were
GM Dejan Antic, Jesse Sales and Ben Lazarus. 26
players participated in the open event.
Mark Stokes won the
under 1600, from Craig Stewart and Vaness Reid.
30 players took part in this tournament.
Young Callum Gray
won the under 1000 event with a perfect 6/6. There were 18
players participating in this event.
