The stars of the 2008 Qld
Junior Championships were Gene Nakauchi and Andrew
Brown, who came first equal in the Under 18 event,
Alex Stahnke who won the Under 12s with 7.5/8, and
Martin Jack who won the Under 10s with the only picket
fence of 8/8. Jonas Muller, who won the Under 16s on
6/8, and Robin Wei from Cairns, who won the Under 14s
on 5/8, also did extremely well. Andrew Brown was ineligible
for the title as he hails from Canberra.
GM Ian Rogers was
pleased with the high standard of the event, and awarded
best game prizes to Jonas Muller, Sam Grigg, Gene
Nakauchi and Andrew Brown. Other encouragement
awards went to Jake Pyper, Callum Gray and Mythra
Schwartz.
