Gareth Oliver from Canberra has won the 2006 Nell Van De Graaff Classic with a score of 6.5/7. Well done Gareth, and thanks to the Oliver family for coming up for the weekend - it was great to have you here.

Ben Lazarus and Peter Leimand tied for second on 5.5. Young Gene Nakauchi, who defeated Casey Barnard and Tony Weller, made it up to board one for the final round, and if he had been good enough to defeat Gareth, he would have won the competition outright.

In the teams event, the Walker team comprising Ross Lam, Knight Kulkaew, Phillip Ee and Tyson Walker won on 17.5, from team Underwood (Peter Leimand, Scott Underwood, Paul Ma and Kevin Park) and team McIntyre (Phachara Wongwichit, Jessica Kinder, Brock McIntyre and Kieton Beilby) both on 17.

Local IMs Stephen Solomon and Peter Froehlich were both playing in the IM tournament in New Zealand. 64 players participated.
