Brisbane Young Champions

Yi Liu, the newcomer from Victoria, has won the second Brisbane Young Champions event with 7.5/8, dropping just half a point against Lachlan van den Bergh. Yi Liu is only 9 years old, so is obviously a very good prospect.   This was a much stronger event than in term one, both in terms of numbers and playing strength. Daniel Posner and Nozomi Nakagawa both scored 5.5, followed by Alexander O'Flynn and Abbie Kanagarajah. Abbie showed a big improvement this term, as did Leteisha Simmonds.   Thanks to Phachara Wongwichit for managing the event again this term. Much appreciated.   We will be holding the term 3 event at Cafe Checocho as advertised, but with numbers growing we may soon have to find a new venue. The starting date for term 3 is Monday 17 July.   For full results see below.
