Queensland Inter-School Finals 2005

There was an excellent turnout for the finals of the Queensland Inter-School Teams Chess Finals held at Brisbane Grammar School over the weekend of 8/9 October. Regional winners from all along the Queensland coast right up to Cairns participated. Somerset College, from Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast created a little bit of chess history by becoming the first school to win both the open high schools and primary schools competitions. And they did it in style by winning both competitions convincingly. The all girls high schools competition was won by Brisbane State High School and the primary all girls was won by Somerville House.
In the open high school
competition, Somerset College came first on 24/28,
from Brisbane Grammar on 20.5, Anglican Church
Grammar School 19.5 and Brisbane State High School
on 18.5.

In the open primary
school
competition Somerset College came first on 26/28,
from Mudgeeraba Creek State School 18.5,
Indooroopilly State School 17.5 and Worongary State
School on 15.5.

In the high schools all
girls competition Brisbane State High School came
first on 21.5 from Merrimac High on 20, Somerville
House on 14 and Matthew Flinders Anglican College
also on 14.

girls competition Somerville House came first on 22,
from Nundah State School on 19.5, Worongary State
School on 18.5 and Somerset College on 16.5.

The winning teams in
each of the four events have qualified for the national
