Mind Games Tournament at Surfers this coming weekend

 

This coming weekend, 28/29 May, three big chess events will be held at part of the Surfers Paradise Mind Games Event. The total prize-money spread over the three events is $4,650!

 

The easiest way to enter is to go to www.gardinerchess.com and click on 'register now' immediately under the Mind Games image. This will bring up an entry form. If you wish, you can use the 'pay online' button on our webpage to pay your fees. Otherwise you can mail your entry form in with payment, or even phone through your entry details with your credit card number.

 

Sat 28 May 11am to 3pm Surfers Paradise Blitz Tournament Total prizes $800 Tarcoola Ballroom, Holiday Inn (formerly ANA Hotel), 22 View Street, Surfers

 

Sat 28 May 5-9pm Centro Surfers Paradise Transfer Tournament (Teams of Two) Total Prizes $800 Outdoors in Cavill Mall (Floodlit with plenty of spectators - if wet, this will be transferred to the Holiday Inn) This event should be a whole lot of fun.

 

Sun 29 May 10am to 5pm Surfers Paradise Premier Rapid Tournament Total Prizes $3,050 Tarcoola Ballroom, Holiday Inn (formerly ANA Hotel), 22 View Street, Surfers. Last year 134 players took part in this rapid event.

 

Don't miss out, get your entries in now. Players of all standards most welcome.

 

Australian Championships Webpage

 

The new webpage for the Australian Championships and Australian Junior Championships scheduled for the Carlton Crest, Brisbane from 28 December to 9 January will be launched within the next 48 hours or so. The site is www.ozchess2006.com Ian Murray and Wendy Gardiner have put a lot of work into this site.

 

The organisers are very much hoping that the entire Brisbane chess community will get right behind this event. It is the first time the Championships have been held in Brisbane since 1967, so we suggest you do three things. Firstly have a really good look at the website. Secondly bookmark it. And thirdly make a note of the dates in your diary and keep them clear. And of course make sure you enter!!
