  • Developing Chess Talent by Karel van Delft and IM Merijn van Delft - a new book, to be published in April 2010, contains a chapter on chess and autism. Press release and other details here and in educational benefits.

  • Australian Championships - Gold Coast juniors Gene Nakauchi and Alex Stahnke both performed very well at the Australian Championships. In the main event Gene scored a very credible 5.5/11, with a performance rating of 2259. Alex had his best performance so far with equal third place in the Major, scoring 8/11 and performing at 2142. Full results here.
  • Australian Junior Championships - Alex Stahnke continued his astonishing run of much improved form at the Australian Junior Championships, where he scored 7/11, finishing in 6th equal place, and winning the Australian Under 14 title outright.
  • Congratulations also to Leteisha Simmonds and Abbie Kanagarajah, who both went undefeated through the Australian Open Girls Championship scoring 8/9. Leteisha, who is only just out of primary school, convincingly won the play off to become Australian Girls Champion (Under 18).
